Spooky Halloween Blood Orange Sangria - featured image

A deep crimson, spooky-looking sangria made with blood oranges, red wine, and orange liqueur. It is easy to prepare, naturally festive, and perfect for Halloween parties or cozy nights in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bottle (750ml) dry red wine (such as Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot)
  • 4 large blood oranges, sliced into rounds
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 cup Triple Sec or Cointreau
  • 1 bottle sparkling water or lemon-lime soda
  • Ice cubes
  • Optional garnish: orange slices, lemon wheels, or fresh mint

Instructions

  1. Wash the blood oranges thoroughly and slice them into thin rounds, removing any seeds.
  2. Pour the red wine into a large pitcher and add the Triple Sec or Cointreau. Stir gently to combine.
  3. Add the orange juice to the pitcher and stir until well mixed.
  4. Add the sliced blood oranges to the pitcher and let them infuse for at least 10 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
  5. Just before serving, add ice cubes to the pitcher.
  6. Pour in the sparkling water or soda and stir gently to mix.
  7. Ladle into glasses and garnish with orange slices or lemon wheels. Serve immediately.

Notes

For a non-alcoholic version, swap the red wine for grape juice and the Triple Sec for orange juice concentrate. Chill the wine before mixing for a crisper taste. Add ice and sparkling water only right before serving to maintain carbonation. The sangria can be stored in the fridge for 2-3 days without the ice.
