A sweet, spicy, and tangy mango jalapeño agua fresca with a zesty Tajín rim, perfect for summer gatherings and quick to prepare.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large fresh mangoes, peeled and chopped
  • 1 small jalapeño, seeded for less heat or with seeds for more kick
  • Juice of 2 fresh limes
  • 4 cups (1 liter) cold water
  • 2 tablespoons agave syrup or honey (optional)
  • Tajín seasoning for rimming glasses
  • Ice cubes for serving

Instructions

  1. Peel and chop 2 large ripe mangoes into chunks. Slice the jalapeño in half, remove seeds if you prefer milder heat, then chop roughly.
  2. In a high-speed blender, combine mango chunks, chopped jalapeño, juice from 2 fresh limes, and 2 tablespoons of agave syrup or honey. Blend until completely smooth, scraping down the sides as needed.
  3. Pour in 4 cups (1 liter) of cold water and pulse briefly to mix. Add extra water if the mixture is too thick. Taste and adjust sweetness or lime juice if needed.
  4. Pour Tajín seasoning onto a small plate. Rub a lime wedge around the rim of each glass, then dip the rims into the Tajín to coat evenly.
  5. Fill each Tajín-rimmed glass with ice cubes and pour the mango jalapeño agua fresca over the top. Garnish with a thin slice of jalapeño or a lime wheel if desired.
  6. Serve immediately. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours, stirring before serving.

Notes

Adjust jalapeño quantity to control heat. Let the agua fresca chill for 20-30 minutes to mellow flavors. Tajín rim adds a unique tangy, salty flavor and is highly recommended. Can substitute frozen mango (thawed) for fresh. Store in refrigerator up to 24 hours; do not freeze.
