Ingredients

  • Vanilla ice cream (about 1.5 quarts / 1.4 liters)
  • Strawberry ice cream (1 pint / 475 ml)
  • Blueberry ice cream or frozen blueberries (1 pint / 475 ml or 1 cup / 150 g)
  • Fresh strawberries, sliced (1 cup / 150 g)
  • Blueberries (1 cup / 150 g)
  • Mini marshmallows (½ cup / 60 g)
  • Crushed graham crackers (1 cup / 100 g)
  • Red, white, and blue sprinkles (¼ cup / 30 g)
  • Toasted coconut flakes (½ cup / 40 g)
  • Sea salt caramel sauce (½ cup / 120 ml)
  • Chopped pecans or walnuts (½ cup / 60 g)
  • Optional: Whipped cream (1 cup / 240 ml)
  • Optional: Maraschino cherries (½ cup / 75 g)
  • Optional: Chocolate chips or shavings (½ cup / 90 g)

Instructions

  1. Chill the bowls and spoons in the freezer for about 10 minutes to keep everything cold longer.
  2. Place vanilla, strawberry, and blueberry ice cream in separate chilled bowls or trays. If using frozen blueberries instead of blueberry ice cream, place them in a small bowl.
  3. Rinse strawberries and blueberries thoroughly. Slice strawberries into thin pieces and drain excess moisture.
  4. Toast coconut flakes under the broiler for 2-3 minutes until golden brown, then let cool.
  5. Crush graham crackers in a sealed plastic bag using a rolling pin or heavy pan until fine crumbs form.
  6. Arrange mini marshmallows, sprinkles, crushed graham crackers, toasted coconut, chopped nuts, chocolate chips, and sea salt caramel sauce into individual bowls.
  7. Set up the sundae bar by arranging all bowls on a large table or countertop with napkins, plates or bowls, and spoons nearby. Keep ice cream bowls on a bed of ice if outdoors.
  8. Invite guests to build their own sundaes, encouraging creativity and starting with small amounts of toppings.

Notes

Chill serving bowls and spoons before assembling to keep ice cream cold longer. Toast nuts or coconut flakes ahead of time. Set up the bar in a shaded area or indoors to slow melting. Use warm water to dip the ice cream scoop for easier scooping. Provide plenty of napkins and small spoons or tongs to avoid sticky fingers. Encourage guests to start with small amounts of toppings to avoid mess.
