A quick and easy air fryer ribeye steak recipe that delivers restaurant-quality juicy and crusty steak at home without the grill.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ribeye steak, about 1-inch thick (1214 ounces / 340400 grams)
  • Salt, preferably kosher or sea salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or avocado oil
  • Optional: garlic powder or smoked paprika

Instructions

  1. Bring the steak to room temperature by taking it out of the fridge about 30 minutes before cooking. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 5 minutes.
  2. Pat dry the ribeye with paper towels to remove excess moisture. Rub both sides with olive oil, then generously season with salt and freshly ground black pepper. If using, sprinkle a pinch of garlic powder or smoked paprika.
  3. Place the steak flat in the air fryer basket, ensuring space around it for air circulation. Avoid overcrowding if cooking multiple steaks.
  4. Air fry the ribeye at 400°F (200°C) for 7-9 minutes, flipping halfway through at around 4 minutes using tongs. Start checking internal temperature at 7 minutes.
  5. Check doneness with a meat thermometer: medium-rare at 130°F (54°C), medium at 140°F (60°C), medium-well at 150°F (65°C). If not done, add 1-2 minute increments, flipping as needed.
  6. Transfer the ribeye to a plate and loosely cover with foil. Let it rest for 5-10 minutes to allow juices to redistribute.
  7. Slice against the grain and serve immediately with your favorite sides.

Notes

Pat steak dry before seasoning for better browning. Preheat air fryer for a crusty sear. Flip steak halfway through cooking for even doneness. Rest steak on a warm plate covered loosely with foil to retain juices. Use a meat thermometer for precise doneness. Leftovers can be refrigerated up to 3 days and reheated gently in the air fryer at 350°F for 3-5 minutes.
