A crisp and refreshing agua fresca made with fresh watermelon, mint, lime juice, and water, with no added sugar. Perfect for a healthy, hydrating drink any time of day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups (600g) seedless watermelon, chopped into chunks
  • 1/4 cup (1520 leaves) fresh mint leaves, gently crushed
  • Juice of 1 medium lime (about 2 tablespoons / 30 ml)
  • 2 cups (475 ml) cold water
  • Ice cubes (optional, for serving chilled)

Instructions

  1. Cut about 4 cups (600g) of seedless watermelon into chunks, removing any seeds.
  2. Place 1/4 cup (15-20 leaves) of fresh mint leaves in a small bowl and gently crush with a wooden spoon or muddler to release oils without bruising.
  3. In a blender, combine watermelon chunks, crushed mint leaves, lime juice, and cold water. Blend on high speed for 30-45 seconds until smooth and vibrant pink.
  4. Optional: Pour the blended mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a pitcher to remove pulp, pressing gently with a spatula to extract juice.
  5. Add ice cubes to the pitcher or glasses, pour the agua fresca over ice, and garnish with a mint sprig or lime wedge. Serve immediately or refrigerate up to 24 hours.

Notes

Choose ripe, sweet watermelon for natural sweetness. Gently crush mint leaves to release oils without bitterness. Straining is optional for a smoother texture. Adjust water amount to desired thickness. Serve chilled and consume within 24 hours for best flavor. Can substitute cold coconut water or sparkling water for variation.
