A creamy, spicy, and cheesy buffalo chicken dip with a festive spider web design made from sour cream. Perfect for Halloween parties, this crowd-pleasing appetizer is quick to prepare and disappears in minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup buffalo wing sauce (e.g., Frank’s RedHot)
  • 1/2 cup ranch dressing
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup cooked shredded chicken
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Optional: 1/4 cup cream cheese, extra softened, for piping the spider web

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Soften cream cheese at room temperature for about 20 minutes, or microwave for 10-15 seconds.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, buffalo wing sauce, ranch dressing, garlic powder, and a pinch of black pepper. Stir until smooth.
  3. Fold in shredded chicken, 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, and chopped green onions until evenly distributed.
  4. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9-inch pie dish or small baking dish and spread into an even layer.
  5. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
  6. Bake for 15-18 minutes, until hot and bubbly around the edges. Optionally, broil for 1-2 minutes for a deeper golden color.
  7. While the dip bakes, prepare the spider web design: mix extra softened cream cheese (or sour cream) with a splash of milk or water until smooth and pipeable. Transfer to a zip-top bag and snip off a tiny corner.
  8. Let the dip cool for 2-3 minutes after baking. Pipe a small dollop of the cream cheese mixture in the center, then pipe concentric circles around it, spaced about 1 inch apart.
  9. Using a toothpick or knife tip, drag from the center outward through the circles every 1-2 inches to create a web pattern.
  10. Optionally, place a small plastic spider on the edge or center of the web for decoration.

Notes

For best results, use freshly shredded cheese instead of pre-shredded to avoid clumping. The spider web design should be piped right before serving to maintain definition. Leftover dip can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. The dip can be assembled (without the web) up to 24 hours in advance and baked just before serving.
