These Easy Rainbow Fruit Kabobs are a fun, colorful, and healthy after-school snack that kids love. Made with fresh fruit and wooden skewers, they’re quick to assemble and perfect for bypassing snack-time negotiations.

Ingredients

  • Strawberries (Red)
  • Oranges or Cantaloupe (Orange)
  • Pineapple or Mango (Yellow)
  • Kiwi or Green Grapes (Green)
  • Blueberries (Blue)
  • Purple Grapes or Blackberries (Purple)
  • Wooden Skewers

Instructions

  1. Wash all fruit thoroughly under cold water and pat dry with a clean kitchen towel.
  2. Hull strawberries and slice in half. Peel kiwi and cut into thick rounds or chunks. Cut large mango or pineapple into 1-inch cubes. Separate orange into segments.
  3. Arrange prepped fruit in small bowls in rainbow order: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple.
  4. Take a wooden skewer and start threading fruit in order: strawberry (red), orange piece (orange), pineapple chunk (yellow), kiwi slice (green), blueberries (blue), purple grape (purple). Leave a little space between each piece.
  5. Repeat pattern for longer skewers. Ensure fruit is secure but not smashed.
  6. Continue threading until all fruit is used, making about 8-10 kabobs.
  7. Serve immediately or cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to 4 hours.

Notes

Use ripe but firm fruit for best results. Pat fruit dry to prevent slipping. For kids, use a visual pattern (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple) to help them assemble. Best enjoyed fresh, but can be refrigerated for up to 4 hours. Do not use frozen fruit as it becomes mushy.
