These easy mummy hot dogs are the perfect spooky snack for Halloween parties. Made with just 4 ingredients, they’re ready in 25 minutes and guaranteed to be a hit with kids and adults alike.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 standard-size hot dogs (all-beef recommended, e.g., Oscar Mayer or Nathan’s)
  • 2 cans (8-count each) crescent roll dough (e.g., Pillsbury)
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter (salted preferred)
  • Mustard or candy eyes (e.g., Wilton candy eyes) for decoration
  • Optional: Everything bagel seasoning, shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese, garlic powder, or paprika

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. Pat the hot dogs dry with a paper towel to help the dough stick. If using jumbo hot dogs, cut them in half crosswise.
  3. Open the crescent roll dough cans. Unroll and separate along perforated lines into 8 triangles per can.
  4. Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, cut each triangle lengthwise into 3-4 thin strips, about 1/2 inch wide.
  5. Take a hot dog and wrap a dough strip around it at a slight angle, overlapping slightly. Leave a small gap near the top (about 1/2 inch) for the eyes. Tuck the end of the strip underneath to secure.
  6. Place wrapped hot dogs on the prepared baking sheet, about 2 inches apart.
  7. Brush each mummy lightly with melted butter.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the dough is golden brown and cooked through, and the hot dog is heated.
  9. Immediately after removing from the oven, add eyes: pipe tiny mustard dots or gently press candy eyes into the warm dough.
  10. Let rest for 2-3 minutes before serving.

Notes

Keep dough cold for easier handling. Don’t overwrap—2-3 strips per hot dog is ideal. For make-ahead, assemble up to 4 hours in advance, cover, and refrigerate; brush with butter before baking. For freezing, assemble unbaked, freeze on a sheet, then transfer to a bag for up to 2 months; bake from frozen, adding 3-5 minutes. Reheat leftovers in oven at 350°F for 5-7 minutes or air fryer at 300°F for 3 minutes.
