Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups cooked shredded chicken (rotisserie chicken works perfectly)
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup buffalo wing sauce (recommended: Frank’s RedHot)
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (sharp cheddar preferred)
  • 1/4 cup crumbled blue cheese (optional)
  • 1/4 cup ranch dressing (or blue cheese dressing)
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough (Pillsbury recommended)
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon everything bagel seasoning (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded chicken, buffalo wing sauce, shredded cheddar cheese, crumbled blue cheese (if using), ranch dressing, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until well combined and creamy. Adjust salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Open the can of crescent roll dough and unroll it onto a lightly floured surface. If using perforated triangles, pinch the seams together to create a solid sheet. Roll the dough to about 1/8-inch thickness.
  4. Using a football-shaped cookie cutter or a sharp knife, cut out ovals about 2.5 inches long and 1.5 inches wide from the dough.
  5. Place about 1 tablespoon of the buffalo chicken filling in the center of each dough oval. Fold the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape, then pinch the edges firmly to seal. Shape the edges into slight points at both ends to resemble a football.
  6. Place each assembled bite on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
  7. Brush the top of each football with melted butter. Sprinkle with everything bagel seasoning if desired.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For best results, use room temperature cream cheese. If the filling seems too runny, add more shredded chicken or cheese. Chilling the assembled bites for 10-15 minutes before baking helps maintain the football shape. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in a 350°F oven for 5-7 minutes or in an air fryer for 3-4 minutes.
