A quick and easy air fryer salmon recipe featuring a crispy skin, sticky teriyaki glaze, and toasted sesame seeds for a flavorful and fuss-free meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 skin-on salmon fillets, 6-8 ounces (170225 g) each, fresh or thawed
  • 3 tablespoons teriyaki sauce per fillet (about 45 ml)
  • 2 teaspoons sesame seeds, toasted if possible
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil or avocado oil for brushing
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Thinly sliced green onions or scallions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
  2. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  3. Brush the skin side lightly with olive or avocado oil.
  4. Sprinkle garlic powder and freshly ground black pepper evenly over the flesh side of the salmon.
  5. Place the salmon in the air fryer basket skin-side down, ensuring fillets don’t overlap.
  6. Air fry for 7 minutes to firm the fish and crisp the skin.
  7. Brush teriyaki sauce generously over the top of each fillet, then sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  8. Continue air frying for another 3-5 minutes, watching closely to caramelize the sauce without burning.
  9. Remove the salmon carefully with a spatula and garnish with sliced green onions.

Notes

Pat salmon dry before cooking for crispiness. Brush teriyaki sauce after initial cooking to prevent burning. Toast sesame seeds in a dry pan for 2 minutes for extra nuttiness. Flip salmon halfway through the first 7 minutes if your air fryer cooks unevenly. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days and reheated gently in the air fryer at 350°F for 3-4 minutes to maintain crispiness.
