A quick and easy recipe for crispy Brussels sprouts cooked in an air fryer and topped with a tangy-sweet balsamic glaze. Perfect as a flavorful side dish for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound (450 grams) Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon salt (sea salt or kosher salt)
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 3 tablespoons aged balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon honey (optional, can substitute with maple syrup for vegan)

Instructions

  1. Trim and halve the Brussels sprouts, removing any yellow or damaged outer leaves.
  2. In a mixing bowl, toss the halved sprouts with olive oil, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder if using, ensuring an even coat.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3 minutes.
  4. Place the sprouts in the air fryer basket in a single layer and cook for 12-15 minutes, shaking or tossing every 5 minutes for even browning. Watch closely after 10 minutes to avoid burning.
  5. While the sprouts cook, combine balsamic vinegar, brown sugar, and honey (if using) in a small saucepan. Simmer over medium heat, stirring frequently, until thickened and coats the back of a spoon, about 6-8 minutes. Add a splash of water if too thick.
  6. Transfer the cooked sprouts to a serving bowl, drizzle with the warm balsamic glaze, and toss gently to coat. Serve immediately.

Notes

Dry Brussels sprouts thoroughly after washing to ensure crispiness. Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches if needed. Shake the basket every 5 minutes for even browning. For vegan version, substitute honey with maple syrup and verify balsamic vinegar is vegan-friendly. Reheat leftovers in the air fryer at 350°F for 3-5 minutes to regain crispiness.
