A quick and easy appetizer combining spicy buffalo sauce, sweet hot honey, and creamy cheese with shredded chicken. Perfect for game day or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups cooked, shredded chicken (rotisserie or poached)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup ranch dressing
  • 1/2 cup buffalo sauce
  • 3 tablespoons hot honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup yellow onion, finely diced
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  • Celery leaves (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. If using raw chicken, cook and shred it to yield about 2 cups. Let cool slightly.
  3. Ensure cream cheese is softened to room temperature.
  4. In a medium bowl, combine softened cream cheese, sour cream, ranch dressing, buffalo sauce, minced garlic, and diced onion. Whisk until smooth.
  5. Fold in the shredded chicken gently.
  6. Mix 1 tablespoon of buffalo sauce with the hot honey. Drizzle half into the chicken mixture and stir to combine.
  7. Transfer the mixture to a 7-inch ceramic baking dish or cast-iron skillet.
  8. Sprinkle mozzarella and cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes until cheese is melted, bubbly, and slightly golden.
  10. Remove from oven and let cool for 5 minutes.
  11. Garnish with sliced green onions and drizzle with remaining hot honey.
  12. Serve immediately with tortilla chips, celery sticks, or crusty bread.

Notes

Ensure cream cheese is fully softened to avoid lumps. For a lighter version, swap sour cream for Greek yogurt and use reduced-fat cheese. If the dip is too thick after baking, stir in a splash of milk or chicken broth.
